Just another (Mother's) Day
It was pretty much "just another day" around here. Although, John did make pancakes for breakfast and they were DELICIOUS!!
Since the new year, Pastor Scott has been preaching along the theme of "Being a fool for Christ" - meaning... behaving in a way that seems foolish to the "world" (like being kind to people who haven't been kind to you and such) in an effort to be more like Jesus. So all of our church sermons have been about great "fools" in the bible - people who have acted foolishly and not obeyed God and the consequences. Well, in an effort to tie yesterday's sermon into a Mother's Day theme, Pastor Scott chose to talk about one of the very most foolish of all wives and mothers in the bible - Jezabel. Poor Jezabel - what a mess.
So, anyway, we did our usual thing after church - visiting my grandmother - and then all met back up for dinner at my parents' house. My dad fixed a Mother's Day FEAST! Steak and shrimp on the barbeque. Mmmmm!! And then for dessert we dug out the remainder of Jack's birthday cake from November. It wasn't TOO stale!
When we got home, Jack had just fallen asleep in the car and it was all I could do to get him to sit up for a few minutes to change his clothes and wash his face. Poor little guy was all pooped out from a very busy day.
Today - no plans. It's freezing cold, raining, and MISERABLE. I think it's a perfect day to stay in our jammies and get caught up on the laundry!
